Cocker Spaniels

In a bid to add a little more "fun" into our kennels we decided to purchase a Cocker Spaniel bitch pup, Kingcott Kosher, from Richard Clayton's highly respected kennels in Sutherland, Scotland.

It was Harry's life long friend John McMorran, the Head Stalker on the Balnacoil Estate in Sutherland, who in 2002 introduced him to Richard Clayton of Kingcot Kennels and his wonderful little dogs which have proved so successful for him in both the working and field trial arena. He was smitten ordering a little black bitch from his next litter.

She travelled eight hours from Sutherland, Harry meeting Richard at Scotch Corner in North Yorkshire, she arrived; a little black bundle who sat on the palm of his hand, small, perfectly formed and high on “speed”, she was everything he had envisaged.

Known at home as "Tess" she has given us much pleasure with her honest and wholehearted desire to please. Though small in stature she has the heart of a "lion". Tess is now seven years old and although she slows at the end of a day she still leaves her kennel mates (the Labradors) in her wake.

We kept Rascal from Tess's first litter who has proved himself both in the working field and as a stud dog. Fern was kept from her second litter, she is the prettiest little dog and an absolute joy, she could possibly win a Labrador working test! Her handling and reaction to the whistle is remarkable. Fern will have her first and possible her only litter in 2012.
